Seminar -  Dolphin Assisted Therapy

The Dolphin Reef is proud to offer a special 4 days international seminar about Dolphin Assisted Therapy.
The seminar, which has been developed around our “Supportive Experience with the Aid of the Dolphins” program will provide participants with first hand knowledge on having dolphins as part of a therapeutic process for children. Additional lectures about dolphins, the ecosystem of the Gulf of Aqaba and of scientific research related to dolphin assisted therapy, will be presented.
The seminar is aimed at professional in the psychological/ therapy field, to students interested in examining the field, and to the general interested public.

General:
Duration of the seminar:  4 days.
Hours of the seminar:   from 08:00 until 16:00 approximately.
Number of participants:  minimum 6, maximum 10.

Contents of the seminar:
• Lectures
• Observation of therapy sessions from 08:00 until 10:00 (every morning), might be from taped videos
• A swim with the dolphins (one during the seminar)
• Breakfast and lunch (every day)

Lectures:
1) Introduction – receipt of the program and learning materials - 45 min.
2) Dolphins - anatomy, physiology, social life - 45 min.
3) Open sea project in Dolphin Reef during 6 years and its outcome - 45 min.
4) Animal assisted therapy, and dolphin assisted therapy - video – 90 min..
5) Supportive experience with the aid of the dolphins in Dolphin Reef, Eilat, Israel - 60 min.
6) Research on the interaction of children-dolphins in Dolphin Reef in 2001 – 45 min.
7) Preparation for a systematic observation – 45 min.
8) Summary of the systematic observation – 90 min.
9) Guest lecturer – 60 min.
10) Scientific researches on dolphin assisted therapy – 90 min.
11) Summary – 45 min.
